Coatesville police question three suspects in daylight murder
by Allen Davis Staff Writer Posted: Friday, 13 November. 2009; 10 a.m. Three suspects in the daylight shooting death of Pierce Rivera in the 100 block of Penrose Alley on Nov. 5 have been interviewed by police. Coatesville Police Chief Julius Canale said at the time the three men were interviewed there was insufficient evidence to hold any of the three. He said the investigation is continuing, adding that transcripts of the interviews along with other evidence is now being reviewed by the county's District Attorney's Office. Canale would only identify the suspects by saying two were white and one was black. Police believe the shooting was a drug deal gone bad. They said multiple shots may have been fired. Residents of the area said they saw one person flee the scene, jumping over a fence before stumbling into a trash can. Rivera, 22, was air-evaced to the Reading Hospital where he died from a single gunshot wound to the head. You can e-mail Allen Davis at: allen@chestercountyreporter.com |
