County GOP selects row office candidates

Posted: Friday, 15 Feb. 09

Last night at the Chester County GOP Endorsement Convention, the Republican Committee of Chester County endorsed Val DiGiorgio as their County Controller Candidate, Mimi Sack as their Jury Commissioner Candidate, and Dr. Steve Dickter as their County Coroner Candidate. The committee chose to recommend Teena Peters and Frank McElwaine as their Clerk of Courts Candidates; and Ann Duke and Alan Randzin as their County Treasurer Candidates.

In Chairman Skip Brion's remarks, he encouraged the committee to give the voters a choice during this Primary Election by choosing to deliver recommended candidates instead of endorsements.

The Republican Committee of Chester Countys by-laws require candidates to receive 60 percent of the vote in order to obtain the endorsement. If no one receives 60 percent of the vote after the second ballot, the two candidates who receive the most votes move to the third ballot. If after the third ballot no candidate receives 60 percent, then the two remaining candidates receive the Party's recommendation for the Primary Election.

"I am pleased with the results of our endorsement meeting," said Chairman Brion, "Our committee made the right choice in sending many of our candidates to the Primary Election as recommended. We have a great slate of candidates and in this Primary Election the voters will have a choice as to who will represent the Republican ticket in the General Election."
